International relations

Ever since it was set up, the Catalan Audiovisual Council has been playing an active role on the international stage. The Council is a member of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA), an association which brings together 51 broadcasting regulatory bodies from 42 European countries and serves as a forum for discussing and coordinating broadcasting regulation issues.

The Council also forms part of the Mediterranean Network of Regulatory Authorities, a joint initiative between the French CSA and the CAC. Its members are broadcasting authorities from 15 countries around the Mediterranean basin and it seeks to strengthen relationships and foster the exchange of experiences between them.

In addition the Council is a member of the International Institute of Communications which was set up in 1969 to promote international discussion about the world of communication.

Finally, the First Meeting of Regulatory Authorities in the Iberian Peninsula was held in February 2008. The event was attended by the regulatory bodies for Catalonia, Andalusia, Navarra and Portugal and was designed to put in place regular exchanges of information and discussion about common issues.
