In order to carry out the functions for which it is responsible, the law grants the CAC a series of powers, of which we shall mention the following three:

• Regulatory. The CAC may approve regulatory orders that develop the existing law. These will be called general instructions and are binding for the suppliers of audiovisual communication services.

• Sanctioning. The CAC will have the power to impose the sanctions envisaged in legislation on audiovisual content.

• Inspecting. The CAC may request information and ask suppliers and distributors of audiovisual communication services to appear before them.
