The Catalan Audiovisual Council (CAC) has launched a new campaign to promote responsible screen use during the health-related lockdown. Two adverts will be broadcast: one on using screens well for online learning and another on safety on social media.
This campaign follows on from a previous set of four announcements and launches today, 29 April. It comprises two animated videos and two radio adverts, which will be aired on TV3, Betevé, La Xarxa and other local television channels, and on Catalunya Ràdio and several private and public radios stations. The videos will also be posted on social media.
The Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals (Catalan Broadcasting Corporation) has scheduled to air the announcements three times a day alongside the midday and evening news, as well as once a day on children's channel Super3. Three radio announcements a day will be broadcast on Catalunya Ràdio.
On online learning, CAC Chairperson Roger Loppacher highlighted the need to plan which school work requires a computer, and, if possible, to create a quiet place at home for studying. The announcements also encourage parents to help their children study as much as they can and show them how to find information, as well as remembering to take short breaks. The slogan for the advert is: “Make the most of digital devices and learn online during lockdown”.
In the announcement on using social media safely, the messages are to be wary of proposals from people we do not know and to never send intimate photos or videos. In addition, we must use secure applications and protect our personal data. We should also check advertising by always consulting the original source. The slogan for the advert is: “Connect securely during lockdown”.
This new campaign follows on from another which ran from 8 to 26 April, entailing four announcements with recommendations on combating COVID-19 misinformation and reasonable screen time. Both campaigns are part of the eduCAC programme.
