The purpose of the regulation of advertising, TV shopping and sponsorship is to fight against content that violates the principles, values and rights protected by the Spanish Constitution, the Statute of Autonomy and the law. It also protects consumers from excessive advertising, as well as preserving the value and integrity of audiovisual works.

The Audiovisual Council of Catalonia (CAC) carries out an exhaustive follow-up of all the commercial forms disseminated by the main service providers that broadcast in Catalonia. In particular, the number of annual advertising forms supervised by the CAC exceed 4,500 on radio and on television and 200 on the Internet. The CAC also develops an annual study on sexism in toy products during the Christmas period.
