Term of office

Carme Figueras began her term of office as a member on July 30, 2010. From October 19, 2011 to July 25, 2012 she has been the Council's Secretary. On September 30, 2021 she was appointed vice president.

Biography

Molins de Rei (Barcelona), 1955

She has studied Physical Sciences (equivalent to a diploma course). She was Councillor on Molins de Rei Town Council from April 1983 to May 2006, where she was Spokesman of the Town Council Socialist Group from 1995 to 2006. She was member of the Spanish Parliament representing the province of Barcelona in the 5th Legislature (June 1993 - November 1995).

She was member of the Parliament of Catalonia from the 5th to the 8th Legislature (December 1995 - July 2010). She was Deputy Spokeswoman of the parliamentary group of Socialistes-Ciutadans pel Canvi (7th and 8th legislatures). She was president of the Committee on Health, Vice-President of the Social Policy Committee, as well as member of the Steering Committee of the Catalan Broadcasting Corporation (CCMA) Performance, the Committee on Institutional Affairs and the Review Committee on the Status of Disabled Persons, among others.

She was Minister of Social Welfare and Family in the Government of Catalonia from May to November 2006.
